Reminder: Election Day Next TUESDAY April 5th!

Posted on March 29, 2022 by Admin
ELECTION DAY is NEXT Tuesday, April 5th from 7am to 8pm in the Village of Elmwood Park. There are 4 candidates running for 3 Board of Trustee seats. They are listed on the ballot as:

Kellie Stein                 Lynda Studey           Wendy Spencer      Brian S. Johnson
Please take a moment to learn about these candidates before you cast your votes next week!
Why did you choose to run?
Stein: As a Village Trustee for Elmwood Park, I will listen to residents and work with the board of trustees and committees of Elmwood Park. We are fortunate to live in a wonderful village, but that does not come without hard work, creative problem solving, and effective decision-making. There are many aspects of the village that make it a desirable location for neighbors to live and raise their families. I’m ready to serve all residents to continue Elmwood Park’s success and make it even better for the future.
Studey: I chose to run while working closely on projects with another Racine County Village – I wanted to bring that dedication and commitment to the community that my family has called home for the past 10 years.
Spencer: I decided to run for Trustee because of my 15 years from when I previously served.
Johnson: I am the only incumbent running again as a Village Board Trustee, having enjoyed the last 3-1/2 years on the board and giving back as well as helping to move the village forward.
What is your profession?
Stein: Teaching Specialist and Lecturer at UW-Parkside
Studey: Profession? I am the Executive Director for the Greater Union Grove Area of Commerce. Within my position I curate business relations and benefits for the Greater Union Grove area, facilitate 8 committees, organize many community events and programs such as; The 4th of July Parade, Union Grove Public Market, Pumpkin Chuckin Fest, Christmas comes to Union Grove and Leadership Union Grove, just to name a few.
Spencer: Recently retired as an Event Coordinator, but still keep busy as President of 4th Fest of Greater Racine.
Johnson: VP of Business Development for a Pharmaceutical & Food Industry Company
What qualities will you bring to the Board?
Stein: I live with my husband Rick and our 11-year-old son Jack. I have a BBA from UW-Whitewater and an MS in Organizational Change Leadership from UW-Platteville. I am also a graduate of the RAMAC Leadership Racine program. Before moving to Elmwood Park 12 years ago, I was involved with the City of Racine serving as the 10th District Alderperson. Active in Racine Founders Rotary Club, United Way of Racine County, Junior League of Racine, and the Racine County Food Bank. On each of these boards, I built relationships and gained experience working with other dedicated individuals to achieve goals, solve problems, and make improvements.
Studey: With my background in volunteerism, board management, business, community organization, sponsorship procurements and large-scale events I feel I have a unique skill set that would be beneficial for the future of our community.
Spencer: My goal has always been to listen to village residents and act on their concerns. I think our current board had done a very good job and being a part of that would be my pleasure.
Johnson: I am outgoing, and push for change when needed, proud to live in the village and to serve my neighbors. I have been involved in girls softball as a board member and have coached for 20 years. I am also involved in other organizations with my work industry.
